Printer Tools - Qcontrol

A cross-platform tool for monitoring of network printers and queues.

Qcontrol

Qcontrol is an advanced management solution for NetWare and Windows printing, with full support for Bindery/NDS queues, NDPS, Windows 9x/NT/2000. It is intended to provide a simple alternative to working with the front panel LCD. It is now possible to manage print jobs on Windows and NetWare printers from a single, central, browsable location. Anyone who needs to watch many printers at once - helpdesks, printer operators, and administrators - will find Qcontrol a valuable asset for printer management. Manage printer, queue, and server properties. Presented in an Explorer-like interface.

The interface was designed to be visually oriented so you can see the values of the parameters you are working with 'at a glance' and modify the values in place.  The program displays graphical representations of the settings for envelopes and the tracking generator, these are designed to be intuitive and visual, but not intrusive.

QControl lets you define the banks that exist on your synth and will read the bank information from standard sysex files.  This allows the interface to use the patch names that you're used to working with on your keyboard (as opposed to numbers only).  It also allows QControl to be compatible with the entire line of QS keyboards (including the NanoSynth, NanoPiano, and NanoBass).  This also enables QControl to use banks and patches that are present on expansion cards).

QControl also uses variable sample names and sample group names.  This means that you can use the samples stored on expansion cards in your programs, and reference them by the names you give them in the synth.  The sample names can be easily modified to suit your configuration.

The QControl virtual keyboard tool displays an on-screen,  88-key, mouse triggered keyboard with variable velocity (the lower you "strike" the key, the higher the velocity) and aftertouch (drag the mouse up or down on the key after clicking).  Display shows velocity and aftertouch values being sent (you can also remove the display panel by right clicking, to save display space).

In order to provide adequate connectivity, data conversion, data processing and output management and distribution for your organisation, a number of TN Interface Tasks and SpoolQ installations maybe required. To help with their management, a simple and intuitive Windows application called QControl is provided.

QControl enables you to launch and terminate individual Tasks and SpoolQ instances and select and manage entire systems, all from a central location. Tasks and SpoolQ instances can be viewed as icons or as a list and each is colour coded depending upon whether they are running or terminated.

QControl also provides a facility to quickly and easily configure Tasks for your individual requirements using its TaskEditor feature.

TaskEditor provides fast and easy access to the configuration parameters and their associated values that are applicable only to the modules contained within the Tasks you have installed. No longer do you have to solely rely on the Technical Reference Manual for the required configuration information, QControl's TaskEditor provides instant on-screen access without the need to create and edit the usual Task configuration files.
