Network Monitoring - ipPulse
ipPulse is a Remote Status Monitoring Tool. Use ipPulse to monitor the up/down status of IP connected devices (nodes) on any IP connected network. ipPulse alerts you to failures using audible messages, email, pager, web, and logs.
ipPulse uses a variety of methods, including ping packets, tcp connects, and SNMP to poll and check the network connectivity of a list of user-defined nodes. ipPulse alerts you to failures using a variety of techniques ranging from audible messages to email and pager notification. You can even control ipPulse remotely by logging into Remote Control using any Telnet application. It supports a large list of target hosts entered as either hostnames or IP addresses. The list can be imported from a text file. It polls the list on a cyclical basis and supports a primary and secondary test.

- Optionally uses SNMP v1 as a secondary test by requesting MIB2 OID interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOperStatus for every interface found on the target node. Community names are assignable on a per-node basis.
- Optional SNMP queries can be made for obtaining more extensive data from the target host. ipPulse includes a number of OID presets and 12 user defined OIDs. Example: you can obtain MAC addresses for every interface from an SNMP enabled host.
- Multiple alerts and logging. Alert options include beeping your computer, playing a wave file, notifying someone by email, or paging someone using either standard numeric or TAP compatible alphanumeric pagers. Logging options include logging all test results to a text file, logging only errors to a text file, or logging errors to a dynamically created HTML page. Any combination of logging options can be used. Alerts are issued upon failures using user-defined criteria. Changes from a FAIL state to a PASS state can generate email messages or pager messages.
- Email notification via the SMTP protocol with the server of your choice.
- Remote Control allows you to view log files and start, pause or stop a scanning cycle. Remote Control is password protected and can reside on any port. It can be disabled.
- Multithreaded for responsiveness.

- All documentation is contained in a standard help file and in HTML help files.
- Requires TCP/IP on Windows 2003, XP, 2000/NT 4 Server or Workstation; also runs on Windows ME/98.
- Requires 1024 x 768 display. Pager notification requires a modem and phone line separate from the network connection.
- ipPulse can be set to run on program startup. ipPulse can also be installed as a Windows 2000/NT service using programs available as part of the Windows NT/2000 Resource Kits--instructions provided in the Help file and on our support web pages.
- Licensed on a single computer system basis. You can monitor an unlimited amount of nodes (within technical limitations of the program) from your licensed copy.
