Sparse files are a build-in feature of NetWare. Normally this feature is a blessing, but sometimes this can work against you. BIGFILE.EXE is a DOS utility to create sparse files in order to experiment. When you're able to create sparse files you can e.g. find out how your backup software responds when backing up sparse files.

This utility allows a user to create large files on NSS volumes. Even files that are larger than 4GB. Toolbox and Client utilities will display files larger than 4GB with a negative file size. NetWare Remote Manager will show you the correct size.

Usage of BigFile

big <path\filename> <size of file to create in MegaBytes>
